Gained from a single plant – the agave – only if it grows in a particular region in Mexico can you call in Tequila.

According to an old tale, tequila was discovered when a bolt of lightening struck an agave field.

The bolt tore into the heart of the plant causing the plant not only to cook but also to naturally ferment. The shocked natives noticed aromatic nectar coming from the plant and with certain fear they drank the nectar, which they then deemed to be a miraculous gift from their gods.
